Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice explains how dogdo ("dogdo", "we", "us") collects and uses personal data when you use Can My Dog Eat? (the "Service"). dogdo is the data controller for the personal data described here.

What we collect

  • Account data — email address, authentication credentials, and (if you sign in with Google) name and profile picture.
  • Dog profile data — the name, breed, age, weight, and photos you add for your dog(s).
  • Usage data — food lookups, training progress, streaks, memories, chat history with the AI vet assistant, and other content you create in the app.
  • Device & log data — IP address, browser/device identifiers, timestamps, and error logs, collected automatically for security and reliability.
  • Support messages — messages you send us and metadata about the exchange.

Payment card data is collected directly by our payment provider Paddle; we do not receive or store your card number.

Why we use it (purposes & legal basis)

  • Provide the Service — create your account, run features, sync your data across devices. Basis: performance of a contract.
  • AI features — send prompts and images you submit to AI providers to generate responses. Basis: performance of a contract.
  • Security and fraud prevention — detect abuse and secure the Service. Basis: legitimate interests.
  • Product improvement — understand which features are used and fix bugs. Basis: legitimate interests.
  • Customer support — respond to your questions. Basis: legitimate interests.
  • Legal compliance — meet tax, accounting, and other legal duties. Basis: legal obligation.

Who we share it with

  • Service providers / subprocessors — hosting, database, authentication, analytics, and AI providers who process data on our behalf under contract.
  • Merchant of Record — Paddle handles all payments, subscription management, tax compliance, and invoicing for our sales. See the Paddle Privacy Notice.
  • Professional advisers — legal and accounting advisers where necessary.
  • Authorities — where required by law or to protect our rights or the safety of users.

Retention

We keep your account and dog profile data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account we delete or anonymise your data within a reasonable period, except where we must keep it to meet legal obligations (e.g. tax records held by Paddle). Log and security data is kept for a shorter period sufficient for the purpose.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you,
  • have inaccurate data corrected,
  • request deletion of your data,
  • restrict or object to certain processing,
  • request a portable copy of your data,
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, and
  • complain to a supervisory authority.

For UK/EEA users we aim to respond to rights requests within one month. Contact support@dogdo.app to exercise these rights.

International transfers

Some of our providers process data outside the UK/EEA. Where that happens we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, access controls, and hosted infrastructure with strong security defaults. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password.

Cookies

We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies and local storage entries to keep you signed in, remember your preferences (theme, layout), and detect abuse. We do not use advertising cookies.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Notice. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by email.
